The warehouse storage solution we provided
With heavy rolls of carpet several metres long with the warehouse design had to accommodate, we opted to use heavy duty pallet racking as these provided the best solution. Some sections for the longer carpet rolls are made up of 1350mm deep frames and mono-post construction, with 25mm chipboard to each of the seven beam levels.
Finding the right pallet racking
Careful calculation of the loadings of the beams and decks within the frames allowed a cost effective installation but with the strength in all the right places! Different beam sections were utilised across the depth of the bay with the larger box sections placed under areas taking the most strain from the load.
The installed carpet racks designed to fit around the building columns feature bays that can hold over a thousand carpet rolls. A further 312 pallet spaces were also created with the inclusion of some adjustable pallet racking.
Adding a mezzanine floor
Quickline also applied their warehouse expertise to the mezzanine floor design by installing a bespoke fire rated mezzanine floor, featuring office space above with glazed sections which look out over the racking system in the warehouse. Further office space and a canteen were created below.
