Richer Sounds

Richer Sounds are Hi-Fi, home cinema and TV specialists, with a strong online presence and network of 52 stores across the UK. Founded in 1978, they are  an employee owned company and part of the Good Business Charter. As they have grown, they have become one of the most recognisable names in the distribution of consumer electricals.

To facilitate their continued growth, they have acquired a new warehouse facility to enhance their exceptional service and distribution.

As they moved to recently vacated site there was existing racking system in place. Following a site audit, they quickly determined that the current layout wouldn’t work for them and required a full reconfiguration. This would allow them to install a racking system to store a wide portfolio of goods which vary in weight and dimensions.

Quickline were approached to provide a solution at the tender stage, and worked closely with Richer Sounds to understand their business operations and requirements. Following this process, they were able to provide a bespoke solution to the customer to deliver their needs.

The solution provided by Quickline was to completely reconfigure the existing racking, thus providing a front to back layout throughout the warehouse. The first stage involved dismantling and removing all existing drive in racking on site and removing the existing sprinkler system to allow a new one to be installed. As the existing sprinkler system needed replacing, some bays of racking were dismantled and re-built once the new sprinkler system had been installed. Existing racking that was still serviceable was re-used along with the installation of additional new racking to increase the storage capacity, allowing Richer Sounds to optimize the storage and retrieval of goods in a more efficient way. The new layout comprised of 25 runs and 519 bays, creating 4,995 pallet locations.

Quickline managed the entire project, from concept and design, to installation. The project was delivered on budget in a smooth and timely fashion.
